The Lipstick Tag

Lipstick is one aspect of makeup which I adore swatching and buying but don't wear all that often. When I got tagged to do this post (thanks Lena!) I was so happy because I haven't done a tag in a while.

1. How many lipsticks do you own?
Not that many! I'm not a huge fan of bona fide lipsticks so I only have 9 including sheer 'moisturising' lipsticks and I happily dabble in lip crayons and tinted balms and glosses so I have 24 altogether. I've given many away to friends and my sister's pilfered a couple.

2. What was the first lipstick you owned?
I bought myself a Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait from an eBay seller before they were officially released in Australia. I was very keen to give it a go. I still have what's left of it.

3. What is your favourite lipstick brand?
Revlon! I like their Colorburst lip butters and lipsticks and their Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains.

4. What is your most worn lipstick?
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm. It applies a peachy apricot but leaves a coral pink stain. I love it, although the formula and lightness of this shade mean it is quite unforgiving on dry lips.

5. What is your favourite finish?
Sheer (think L'Oreal Rouge Caresse or Revlon Lip Butters), followed by MAC's Cremesheen.

6. What was the last lipstick you bought?
MAC Shy Girl from Brisbane Duty Free. It was $29 instead of the usual $36 so I succumbed. I adore the name and when blended into the lips sparingly it imparts a pretty peachy colour that doesn't wash me out. Applying this properly from the bullet is reserved for nights that call for serious eye makeup and a perfectly flawless base.

7. How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?
Four. Carmex Moisture Plus and Palmer's Chocolate and Peppermint Lip Butter are good lip balms and the NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp are good choices for colour in summer because they won't melt.

8. What is your favourite red lip colour?
Revlon Cherry Tart. Korres' lip butter in Wild Rose is a close second, a blue-based vampy plum that applies sheerly because of the tinted lip balm formula.

9. How do you store your lipsticks?
In a drawer of a wooden storage system from IKEA.

10. Which lipsticks are you currently lusting after?
I would really like to try a YSL Glossy Stain, probably in 07 Corail Aquatique, a YSL Rouge Volupte Shine, most likely in the shade 09 Nude in Private and a Chanel Rouge Coco or Rouge Coco Shine.

That was fun- and I've made up my mind to get more wear out of my 24 lip products. I tag Tasha!

Time Out

Sorry for being MIA recently, I'd been steadily drafting posts until my sister pronounced our Canon 'dead'; we've since gotten on track to getting the same camera to replace it with within warranty but in the meantime I don't want to post sub-par photos that I'm not happy with so I'm writing up a tiny haul post to update you with.

01 Lush Gorilla Perfume - Solid Perfume in Lust
I got this after Lena's RAVE review and I walked in and gave it a whiff and decided I really did want to be able to smell like a star jasmine shrub. It's so handy to toss into a handbag and not worry about spillages or glass bottles.

02 First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask
This was a bit of a bummer because it was on sale for around $16 and the David Jones saleslady overcharged me but I didn't pick up on it until I got home. I bought it because I've heard some good things about it from FleurdeForce and I've used up my Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque. I'm eyeing up Aesop's Chamomile Concentrate Mask for my next mask purchase but in the meantime I want to use up the Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask so this didn't seem quite as extravagant as the Aesop.

03 Face of Australia Carnivale Nail Polish in My Island Home
I wasn't all that intrigued when FOA brought out these polishes with a mock-liquid-sand finish but when Kmart put the guts of their beauty department out for clearance I thought it wouldn't hurt to try this after all. I don't like it because it runs too close to my own skin tone and the sandy finish in this shade is unflattering.

04 Indeed Labs Pepta-Bright
I've finished a tube of Hydraluron and while that's been a great serum to use as part of my morning skincare routine, I've got some hyperpigmentation from acne scars and Pepta-Bright seemed like it could work as part of the solution. In addition to Alpha-H's Liquid Gold Rejuvenating Cream, La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo, Lush Grease Lightning and Trilogy's Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ I hope between them some results will be seen.
